She began surfing at age 5 prior to her move to Hawaii. At the time of 2006, she was six years old when she took home a surfing contest by using a piece of board that was that was found in a trash can. At the age of 16, Ashley participated in the NSSA National championship. She was awarded the Triple Crown Rookie of the Year award in 2003. Ashley has also received titles such as two National Scholastic Surfing Association and Professional Surfing Tour of America Championships. Ashley was the winner of the 2011 Pipeline Women's Pro in Hawaii. Ashley has a ranking of 59th place at the Women's Qualification Series 2014.
